Infomercials

My networking circles have grown in the last few years. Most of my business is
through word of mouth from satisfied customers to their friends and business associates.
Wouldn't it be great if all of our start ups and small business professionals had that same opportunity- word of mouth marketing?

Well - videos on your website or mailing distribution accomplishes that.

Let me explain and give a little history while I'm at it.

Gossip for example, spreads like crazy. So do jokes.
And if you're old enough to remember, chain letters at one time were popular. In these letters, it was requested that you send out a pre-determined amount of the same letters to your friends and if you chose not to send out those letters, the original letter would often state things to the effect that no fortune would be yours. If memory serves me right, chain letters had a negative connotation associated with them.

Well video does the same thing essentially without the bad connotation. You see a video isn't born viral. The very nature of posting a video on the internet and telling folks to view it is the seed of viral video or viral marketing if you prefer.

Most of the professional videos have the intent to inform consumers of their business. How it gets distributed is in your power.

Are they really infomercials? Not exactly - but an under 2 minute video clip describing what your business is about well generate viewers for you. Poorly done video may not get you the results you're looking for and I advise seeking a professional to avoid that.

What goes into an infomercial and what goes into a 2 minute video clip can be very similar if it gets attention, informs the viewer, demonstrates, and lastly asks the viewer to do something.
Infomercials go into these things on a much deeper level and generally takes a longer time to do it for a greater effect. Infomercials have been around and are still around for over twenty years.

There is a reason for that and that is - like it or not, they work.

So if your business doesn't have at least a short video somewhere, you're loosing out on money.

Until next time,
Maribel
