LiquidVideo Artistry is frequently approached by other small video production companies that are just starting out. While this potentially helps out my company, I always ask what their focus is and what type of equipment they're using. As consumers are bombarded by manufacturers that HD is the new generation and HD delivery is for all intents and purpses now here, so is the ability to capture events by non-professionals. That's good to a point.
The individual that approached me told me the camera model they were using, and that they were shooting HD. Well, since I stay on the leading edge of technology and not the bleeding edge, I had already done my research and had already documented something using that same camera because the company specifically requested it.
A camera is a tool - it is not the only element into what makes a video good.
What follows is simply a tip or two if you plan on purchasing your own equipment.
HDV is not the same as HD.
Just because the camera has 24p or 24f, it is not necessary for all purposes.
Not all 3CCD cameras have the same size chip.
They don't handle low light equally.
And if you care anything at all about audio, not all XLR imputs are independent of each other.
Now if this is something you do not care about, good for you. Hopefully the professional you use will provide you with the benefits of using a professional as opposed to using a person with a big budget that doesn't know the difference between the camera's features and a competing manufacturer's.
LiquidVideo Artistry is committed to providing quality documentation that will make you more visible and profitable in a way that is best for you and your company.
We shoot to your success!
This is what gets me out of bed in the morning.
until next time,
Maribel, LiquidVideo Artistry
